US President Donald Trump said that America is terminating its relationship with the World Health Organization as China has total control over the WHO.
He claimed that China was only paying USD 40 million per year compared to what the US has been paying which is approximately USD 450 million a year. Stating that the funding of the WHO would now be diverted to other global public health organisations, Trump announced a series of decisions against China including issuing proclamation to deny entry to certain Chinese nationals and tightening of regulations against Chinese investments in America.
The US and China are engaged in a major confrontation over issues like the origins of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Beijing’s security crackdown in Hong Kong and the communist giant’s aggressive military moves in the disputed South China Sea.
