Mumbai : The 30-pack Sensex touched a high of 40,555.60 on Tuesday and a low of 39,978.39 to finally settle at 40,522.10.
Financials and Asian Paints led the market rally as 20 of the 30 Sensex stocks ended the day in the green.
The main index contributors were Kotak Bank, HDFC Bank, Asian Paints, , Bajaj Finance and Axis Bank among others.
The top index gainers were Kotak Bank (11.86 per cent), Nestle (6.04 per cent), Asia Paints (5.59 per cent) among others.
Among the top Index losers were HDFC (2.05 per cent), TCS (1.94 per cent), ONGC (1.76 per cent).
The biggest sectoral gainer was S&P BSE Bankex, registering 3.53 per cent upwards while the biggest sectoral gainer was S&P BSE Information Technology, down 1,46 per cent.
Among the toppers in terms of volume were Kotak Bank, RIL, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints and Maruti.
Nifty gained most since October 6, Nifty Bank broke a 3-day losing streak by gaining most since October 19.
Nifty IT declined second day in a row while Nifty Pharma gained most October 8.
Nifty FMCG gained most in a week while Nifty Realty declined for the third day consecutively.
A total of 34 stocks on NSE sent bullish signals on the daily chart as suggested by the moving average convergence divergence or MACD charts.
