The 30-share pack Sensex fell 31 points to end at 58,191, while its broader peer Nifty50 closed at 17,314, registering a fall of 17 points on Friday, coming as they did after a two-day winning streak.
Stocks in the Sensex such as M&M came down 1.37 per cent to Rs 1239.25, Ultratech Cement was down 1.29 per cent, SBI fell 1.28 per cent, Bajaj Finance, ITC, HCL Tech and Tech Mahindra also closed with losses.
Among the stocks which went up were Titan which rose 5.27 per cent to Rs 2730.50, Power Grid Corp, NTPC and Maruti Suzuki increased 1.36 per cent, 0.96 per cent and 0.93 per cent respectively.
Among the sectors, Nifty IT fell 0.70 per cent and Nifty FMCG fell 0.64 per cent.
