Mumbai : The 30-pack Sensex on Tuesday touched a high of 49569.14 and a low of 49,079.57 to finally settle at 49,517.11.
Sensex staged 438 points recovery from low, ended 248 points higher.
Nifty ended above 14,550.. JSW rose 12 per cent while J & K Bank10 per cent. RIL and HDFC Bank led the market rally.
Fourteen of the 30 Sensex stocks ended the day in the green.
Among the index contributors were RIL< HDFC Bank, Airtel, SBI and ITC.
The top index gainers were Airtel (3.95 per cent), SBI (3.79 per cent), RIL (3.06 per cent).
The top index losers were Asian Paints (3.24 per cent), Titan (2.09 per cent), Nestle (2.04 per cent)
S&P BSE Consumer durables was the biggest sectoralloser, down 0.97 per cent.
Among the volume toppers were RIL, Maruti, HDFC Bank, SBI and Asian Paints.
