The Rupee slipped one paise to 82.41 against the US dollar in the early trade on Tuesday as the American currency strengthened and foreign fund outflows sustained during the period. Besides, weak domestic equities and risk aversion sentiments among the investors also influenced the rupee trade against the greenback.
At the Interbank foreign exchange, the Rupee opened at 82.35 against the Dollar, then pared the gains to 82.41, thereby losing one paise over its previous close. On Monday, the Rupee had fallen 10 paise to touch a low of 82.40.
Meanwhile, the Dollar Index, which measures the Greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, rose 0.12 per cent to 113.27 per cent.
According to Market experts, RBI sold more than a billion dollars on Monday to protect the fast depreciation of the Rupee.
FIIs were the net sellers in the capital market as they offloaded shares to the tune of Rs 2139.02 crore, the Exchange data said.
