RuPay has been moving towards a dynamic payment system. Launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), it has issued over 64 million cards since its inception in 2014.
The RuPay Gobal cards is powered by the Discover Network when used internationally. NCPI has said that leveraging the established interconnection between the two payment network.
Praveena Rai, the Chief Operating Officer of NCPI said that they have been focusing on growing international acceptance for our 64 mn RuPay Global Card consumers. She added that the acceptance of RuPay Global cards with the partnership of Discover reaches 41 mn plus merchants, across 190 countries and has constantly been growing. Along with 200+ international offers for RuPay Global Card holders, the acceptance gets sweetened for the consumer, she remarks.
Currently, RuPay Global Debit and Credit cards are issued by around 40 banks. They can be used for purchases at merchant locations and cash withdrawals on the Discover Global Network at major countries like USA, Singapore, Srilanka etc. where cardholders travel. The Discover Global Network includes Discover Network, Diners Club International, PULSE and affiliated networks.
RuPay card offers a cashback on ATM, POS, fuel station, restaurant, travelling and even insurance services among others.
