Patna (Bihar): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on a day-long visit here on Tuesday, distributed a package of Rs 1349.52 crore loans under nine central government schemes.
The schemes include PM Mudra Yojana, Startup India, Agriculture Infrastructure Development Programme, PM Swanidhi and others.
She was here to inaugurate the Credit Outreach Programme at Jay Prakash Narayan University in Chhapra city here.
The Minister was welcomed by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chowdhary and other leaders of the BJP at Patna Airport. She is also slated to address a gathering at Chhapra later today.
Meanwhile, Sitharaman has urged GST officials to meet with stakeholders to better understand their concerns, improve compliance, streamline processes and collaborate to make the tax system more transparent and efficient.
Inaugurating the first-ever National Conference of Enforcement Chiefs of State and Central GST Formations at New Delhi yesterday, the finance minister also urged the GST officials to use technology to plug loopholes and improve taxpayer services, an official statement said here today.
Sitharaman further advocated sharing of emerging best practices, emphasizing the importance of seamless coordination across the states in larger national interest.
