In a landmark step towards raising the standards of India’s higher education
sector, the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies
(NMIMS) welcomed two of the nation’s most prominent leaders, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble
Minister of Education, Government of India and Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Chief Minister of
Maharashtra to its Vile Parle campus. They were joined by Shri Parag Alavani, Hon’ble MLA of Vile
Parle and Shri Ameet Satam, Hon’ble MLA of Andheri (West).
During their visit, the dignitaries inaugurated the state-of-the-art Mukesh Patel School of Technology
Management & Engineering (MPSTME), performed Bhoomi Pujan of the upcoming SVKM’s
Educational Complex and inaugurated the NMIMS Building. These landmark initiatives signal a new
chapter in NMIMS’s evolution as a global centre of academic excellence.
The visit commenced with the inauguration of the new MPSTME (Mukesh Patel School of
Technology Management & Engineering) building. During the commemorative plaque unveiling
ceremony, the dignitaries were briefed and given a tour of the advanced laboratories designed to
foster interdisciplinary research and innovation aligned with the needs of today’s industries.
The Hon’ble dignitaries then participated in the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the upcoming SVKM’s
Educational Complex. This initiative demonstrates SVKM’s dedication to providing high-quality
education through a facility aligned with global academic benchmarks. This was followed by the
inauguration of the NMIMS Building – the intellectual and cultural heart of the institution.
The new building serves as a landmark that connects NMIMS’s glorious past with its aspirations to be
among the world’s top universities. It is not just a building, but an ecosystem that brings together
academia, industry, and innovation under one roof.
On this monumental occasion, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan stated, “NMIMS is an institution of
exceptional calibre that transforms policy into practice. The commitment to adopt global best
practices while maintaining Indian values, the focus on industry-relevant research, and the creation
of entrepreneurial ecosystems in NMIMS demonstrate how Indian education can achieve world-class
standards. This synergy of tradition and innovation exemplifies the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in
the educational domain.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Shri Devendra Fadnavis remarked, “What we witness here today at
NMIMS is Maharashtra’s answer to global educational benchmarks. This institution has
demonstrated how Indian universities can compete with the world’s best through cutting-edge
research, develop industry-relevant curricula in partnership with corporate leaders and foster
innovation that addresses real-world challenges.”
The grand finale of the celebrations continued at the Mukesh Patel Auditorium, where Shri
Dharmendra Pradhan and Shri Devendra Fadnavis were honoured and welcomed by Shri Amrishbhai
Patel, Chancellor of SVKM’s NMIMS and Dr Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor of NMIMS. Both leaders
commended the institution’s legacy and a strong vision for its future.
Shri Amrishbhai Patel expressed his vision, saying, “Today marks a very important day in our journey.
At NMIMS, we are determined to grow minds that do not just keep abreast with change but also
spearhead it. Our mission is to equip students with the skills, attitude, and values necessary to
become significant contributors to society and the world economy. The encouragement and
appreciation by our valued guests reaffirm our resolve and strengthen our commitment to greater
heights.”
The inauguration of the state-of-the-art academic buildings and the Bhoomi Pujan of the SVKM’s
Education Complex are more than ceremonial milestones. They reflect a strategic commitment to
shaping future-ready professionals, fostering global research collaborations, and expanding the
impact across disciplines. With a clear vision for excellence and inclusivity, NMIMS continues to
redefine the shape of Higher Education in India, aiming to stand shoulder to shoulder with the
world’s leading universities.
