Influenced by gains in Global markets, the domestic indices also rose on Friday, led by stocks in Banking, Finance and IT sectors.
The 30-share Sensex ended 685 points higher to close at 57,920 while its broader peer, Nifty50, closed at 17,186, up 171 points.
The topmost gainers in Sensex stocks were Infosys, HDFC Bank, HDFC, HCL Tech and L&T, rising around 2 to 4 per cent. ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, Bajaj Finance, Dr Reddy’s Labs and SBI also settled higher while M&M, Asian Paints, Reliance and Bharati Airtel ended the session with cuts.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services rose 1.82 per cent and Nifty IT increased 1.63 per cent. Nifty private bank and Nifty Pharma also closed higher. However, Nifty MIdcap50 ended flat with negative bias and Smallcap50 moved forward 0.12 per cent.
Asian Markets ended higher, China’s Shanghai Composite, South Korea’s Kospi and Japan’s Nikkei rose 1.84 per cent, 2.30 per cent and 3.25 per cent respectively.
