Domestic indices gain for the 2nd day in succession

Markets to witness a near-term reversal: Arun Kumar S, Market Strategist, Reliance Securities Ltd.

The domestic indices went up on Thursday led by heavyweights ICICI Bank, Infosys and Reliance with BSE’s Sensex climbing 156 points to end at 58,222 and NSE’s Nifty rising 57 points to close at 17,331.

Tata Steel was the topmost gainer from the 30-share pack Sensex, rising 2.27 per cent to Rs 103.45. L&T was up 2.10 per cent while HCL Tech climbed 2.01 per cent and ICICI Bank rose 1.98 per cent. Infosys, Axis Bank, Sun Pharma and Wipro also ended with gains.

Among the sectors, Nifty Metal rose 3.25 per cent and Nifty Media went up 2.73 per cent. Nifty Realty and Nifty IT also closed higher. While Nifty Midcap50 and Smallcap50 rose 1.16 per cent and 1.39 per cent respectively.

The market capitalization of all BSE-listed companies went up by Rs 1.94 lakh crore from Rs 273.92 lakh crore to 275.86 lakh crore.

The Market breadth was in favour of the bulls. In all, 2362 stocks gained, 1096 declined and 125 others remained unchanged.
