The 30-share BSE Index closed down 257.14 points at 59771.92 on Wednesday, while NSE Nifty5o index ended 59.75 points down at 17829.2. Power shares closed lower in today’s session.
Among the top gainers were KPI Global Infra (up by 4.98 per cent(, Adani Transmission (up 4.84 per cent), Indowind Energy (up 4.79 per cent), NTL (up 4.55 per cent), NLC India (up 4.37), ABBPP &SLTD (up 3.39 per cent), ADANI Green (up 2.58 per cent), DPSC (up 1.26 per cent), Indo Tech Transformers (up 1.14 per cent) and Kalpataru Power Transmission (up 0.96 per cent).
Among the top losers were Jaiprakash Power ventures (down 4.08 per cent), NHPC (down 3.80 per cent), Reliance Power (down 3.40 per cent), GE Power India Ltd (down 2.05 per cent), Energy Development Company (down 1.90 per cent), Torrent Power (down 1.86 per cent), JSW Energy (down 1.66 per cent), Jyoti Structures (down1.25 per cent), Orient Green Power Company (down 1.09 per cent) and Power Grid Corporation of India (down 0.84 per cent.
Among the top gainers in the Nifty pack were L and T (up 4.07 per cent), Grasim Industries (up 2.38 per cent), UPL Ltd (up 2.33 per cent), UltraTech Cement (up 2.26 per cent), Asian Paints (up 2.17 per cent), Hindalco Industries (up 2.11 per cent), (Indian Oil Corporation (up 1.34 per cent), SBI (up 1.14 per cent), JSW Steel (up1.1 per cent) and SBI Life (up 1.09 per cent).
Those which closed in the Red were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (down 3.37 per cent), IndusInd Bank (down 2.85 per cent), Bharati Airtel (down 2.08 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 1.88 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 1.87 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 1.06 per cent), HDFC Bank (down 1.57 per cent), Titan Company (down 1.47 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (down 1.45 per cent) and Britannia Industries (down 1.44 per cent).
Normal trading will be shut tomorrow (on Thursday) on the occasion of Diwali, however, equity exchanges will hold a short ceremonial trading Muharat in the evening at 6.15 pm.
