Vikas Bharat @1947 vision outlined at Davos meet with focus on EVs

The Government has spelled out its vision to make India a developed by 2047 with a major focus on shifting to Electric Vehicles (EV) supported by tax incentives, production-linked incentive schemes and the mandatory provision of charging infrastructure.

This vision was shared by Secretary, Department for promotion of Industry and Internal Trade Rajesh Kumar Singh at the World Economic Forum In Davos, according to a PTI report.

He said that a shift in the modal share of freight from road to rail will be an effective lever to decarbonize the freight transport sector.

Vikas Bharat @1947 is the vision to make India a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of the country’s Independence, Singh said.

The vision includes various aspects of development, including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability and good governance.

The vision was discussed in a session on “Financing Industrial Ecosystems of the Future” at the recently concluded WEF at Davos.

He further said that key reforms such as the PM Gati Shakti program and the United Logistics Interface Platform were showcased in the meeting. India’s dedication to sustainable development and robust infrastructure growth was also discussed.
