Mumbai : The 30-pack Sensex on Friday touched a high of 47026.02 and a low of 46,630.31, however the index settled at 46,960.69.
Sensex rose for the sixth day on Friday, up 70 points while Nifty went up above 13,750, Bajaj Auto and Infy gained over 2 per cent.
Infosys, RIL and ICICI Bank led the market gains.
Fifteen of the 30 Sensex stocks ended the day in the green.
Among the index contributors were Infosys, RIL, ICICI Bank, HUL and TCS.
The top index gainers included Bajaj Auto (2.43 %), Infosys (2.36 %), SBI (1.46 %).
On the other hand, the top index losers were IndusInd Bank (3.09), HDFC Bank (2.21 5), ONGC (2.07 %).
S&P BSE Information Technology emerged as the biggest sectoral gainer, up 1.70 per cent.
S&P BSE Telecom was the biggest sectoral loser, down 1.41 per cent.
Among the volume toppers were Asian Paints, Infosys, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance and TCS.
Experts warned that Nifty had already reached top heights and there could be a correction in near future.
