Sensex drops 938 points amidst weak global markets, Nifty ends below 14K

Hopes of Corona Vaccine pushes Sensex up 429 points

Mumbai : The 30-pack Sensex on Wednesday touched a high of 48,387.25 and a low of 47,269.60 to finally settle at 47,409.93 at close. The Sensex dropped 938 points due to weak global markets even as Metal and Financials underperformed in a volatile domestic market.

RIL  Private lenders sent Sensex down by 938 points. Nifty ended below 14K ahead of F&O expiry. IndusInd Bank, Titan tank 4 per cent each. RI and Financials led the Market fall. A total of 23 Sensex stocks out of 30 ended the day in the red.

HDFC Bank, RIL, HDFC, ICICI Bank and Infosys were the index contributors.

Among the top index gainers were TechM (2.57 per cent), ITC  (1.42 per cent), HCL Tech (1.03 per cent).

The top Index losers were IndusInd Bank (4.26 per cent), Titan (4.16 per cent), Axis Bank (3.74 per cent).

All the BSE Sectoral indices ended the day in the red.

S&P BSE BANKEX was the biggest sectoral loser, down  2.93 per cent.

Among the volume toppers were RIL, TCS, IndusInd Bank, ITC and L&T.
