Indian Markets open higher with positive global cues

Domestic benchmark indices broke a seven-day winning streak and ended lower with Nifty below 17,700 on Tuesday.

At close, BSE’s Sensex was down 287.70 points or 0.48 per cent at 59,543.96 and Nifty fell 74.50 points or 0.42 per cent to end at 17,656.30. 

In all, 1378 shares advanced, 1951 others declined while 106 more remained unchanged.

Nestle India, HUL, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finserv and Britannia Industries were among the Nifty losers. Among those who gained were Tech Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, JSW Steel, Larsen & Toubro and Eicher Motors.

Among the sectors, PSU Bank index added 3.5 per cent and Capital Goods and Auto Indices rose 1 per cent each while FMCG index was down 1 per cent.

BSE MidCap index rose 0.4 per cent and Smallcap indices fell 0.3 per cent.
