Domestic Indices rise for 4th day in a row despite increase in Covid cases

Disregarding Global cues and rapid increase in Covid-19 cases, Domestic Indices in Stock Markets, Sensex and Nifty, rose for the fourth day in succession on Wednesday even as the investors increased their wealth by Rs 1.04 lakh crore. 

In the last four sessions, investors have increased their wealth by Rs 8.78 lakh crore, experts said.

The 30-share pack Sensex went up 367.22 points or 0.61 per cent to close at 60,223.15 while its broader peer Nifty at NSE rose 120 points or 0.67 per cent to 17,925.25.

Bandhan Bank gained as much as 4 per cent as loans rose 11 per cent to Rs 89,213 crores. Thermax increased 2 per cent after bagging Rs 546 crore order, India VIX, the barometer of volatility, moved forward 7 per cent to 17.18. Airline stocks fell 4 per cent after air traffic declines due to rise in Covid-19 cases.

Among the topmost companies, Bajaj Finserv was the top gainer, rising 4.95 per cent, followed  by Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra bank, JSW Steel, Grasim Industries, Indian Oil and Bharat Petroleum.

Among the losers in the Nifty pack were Tech Mahindra, dropping 2.84 per cent followed by Infosys, HCL Tech, Divi’s Labs, Wipro, Power Grid, Dr Reddy’s Labs and NTPC which ended in the Red.

Market breadth was in favour of gainers as 1830 stocks ended in the Green while 1555 others settled with cuts.
