Uzbekistan : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organization conclave in Samarkand here.<\/p>\n
Modi told Putin \u201cWe spoke on the phone several times about Indo-Russia bilateral relations and also on other issues. We should try to find ways to address the problems of food, fuel security and fertilizers.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to thank Russia and Ukraine for helping us (India) to evacuate our students from Ukraine,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday\u2019s era isn\u2019t of war and I have spoken to you about it on the call. Today, we will get the opportunity to talk about how can we progress on the path of peace. India and Russia have stayed together with each other for several decades,\u201d Modi noted.<\/p>\n
Putin told Modi \u201cI know about your position on the conflict in Ukraine and also about your concerns. We want all of this to end as soon as possible. We will keep you abreast of what is happening there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization called for a \u201cbalance\u201d between reducing carbon emissions and allowing poorer states to catch up with economically developed countries.<\/p>\n
