New Delhi, June 8 : The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has gone into self-quarantine on doctors advise after he developed Flu like symptoms and is likely to undergo COVID-19 test on Tuesday as a\u00a0precautionary measure, even as lockdown was lifted with some restrictions in some parts of the country, official sources said today.<\/p>\n
Kejriwal developed fever, cough and sore throat on Sunday afternoon and doctors have advised him to undergo COVID-19 test. He had briefed the media on Sunday afternoon and thereafter went into isolation.<\/p>\n
At the press briefing Kejriwal had announced that hospitals run by Delhi Government and private hospitals would treat only Delhi citizens during the Coronavirus pandemic. He also lamented that certain private hospitals\u00a0have been charging lakhs of money as packages for COVID-19 treatment and this he felt was not fair.<\/p>\n
Delhi has recorded 28,936 cases of Coronavirus so far and 812 people have succumbed to the disease.<\/p>\n
Even as India reopened its malls and restaurants in some states, Mizoram and West Bengal opted for extension of lockdown for two more weeks with some restrictions due to sudden rise in Corona-virus cases. In a tweet, the Director of\u00a0Information and Public Relations of Government of Mizoram said the state would observe lockdown for two more weeks from tomorrow and guidelines would be issued shortly. The State Government even decided to extend the\u00a0Quarantine period from 14 days to 21 days with immediately effect. Eight more persons tested positive on Monday taking the State\u2019s tally to a total of 42 cases..<\/p>\n
In West Bengal, the lock down has been extended till June 30 with existing relaxations in place. Earlier ten people were allowed in social programmes like marriages and funeral ceremonies but now 25 are allowed. The\u00a0Government had eased curbs from June 1 such as allowing places of worship to reopen and Jute, tea and construction sectors to resume operations fully. After a gap of two months, shops and restaurants opened today in West Bengal as part of lockdown lift phase one across the country.<\/p>\n
Maharashtra has recorded a rise in Coronavirus cases and registered 85,975 patients thereby surpassing China in the pandemic figures as on Sunday. In comparison, China had 84,191 cases.\u00a0 According to official records, India now has\u00a02,56,611 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and has become the fifth worst hit economy in the world after United States of America, Brazil, Russia and United Kingdom. Within Maharashtra, Mumbai alone accounts for 57 per cent of the\u00a0total 48,774 confirmed cases followed by Thane with 13,014 cases.<\/p>\n
Maharashtra has recorded more than 3000 COVID-19 related deaths which account for 43 per cent of all the deaths in the country. As compared to this, China has reported 4,638 deaths related to COVID-19.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
