Mumbai, June 5 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhav Thackeray has announced a Rs 100 financial Relief to Raigad district for damages caused to people and property by Cyclone Nisarga twon days ago.<\/p>\n
The announcement was made by the Chief Minister yesterday during his visit to Alibag Talk of Raigad district take stock of the damage caused by the cyclone which however spared Mumbai but struck heavily Coastal areas of Maharashtra in Raigad District.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister clarified that Rs 100 crores was an estimated amount and he may give more depending upon the estimated damages caused which may take some time to come to light.<\/p>\n
He also disclosed that the Government would also give Financial Aid to other districts of Maharashtra which bore the brunt of the cyclone.<\/p>\n
Thackeray also asked the district officials to give Rs 4 lakhs each to the families of those who died in the Cyclone attack. An estimated six persons were killed in Cyclone-related incidents.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister also ordered the officials to immediately restore electricity to those areas in Raigad district where power supply was disrupted due to damage to electric poles during Cyclone attack.<\/p>\n
The Cyclone had blown away rooftops of houses, uprooted trees and more than 500 electric poles during its landfall in Raigad district on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Along with Raigad district, 14 other districts of Maharashtra, including Pune and Ratnagiri, suffered huge damage in the Cyclonic attack which also damaged cashew nuts plantations in Coastal Maharashtra.
