{"id":4483,"date":"2019-03-22T08:50:04","date_gmt":"2019-03-22T08:50:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/financeintellect.com\/home-page\/home\/?p=4483"},"modified":"2019-03-30T11:15:36","modified_gmt":"2019-03-30T11:15:36","slug":"bajaj-auto-in-talks-to-offload-ktm-ags-48-pc-stake-to-its-parent-company","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/financeintellect.com\/home-page\/home\/bajaj-auto-in-talks-to-offload-ktm-ags-48-pc-stake-to-its-parent-company\/","title":{"rendered":"Bajaj Auto in talks to offload KTM AG&#8217;s 48 pc stake to its parent company"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bajaj Auto\u00a0International Holdings BV is in talks to offload its 48 per cent stake in Austria-based\u00a0KTM\u00a0AG to its parent company\u00a0KTM\u00a0Industries AG, which is Europe&#8217;s biggest\u00a0sport motorcycles producer.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Bajaj Auto\u00a0informed Indian stock exchanges on Thursday in regulatory filings said that KTM\u00a0Industries AG was informed by\u00a0Pierer Industrie AG\u00a0and Bajaj that they have started discussions on assessing the possibility of transferring Bajaj&#8217;s 48 per cent stake in\u00a0KTM AG\u00a0to KTM Industries AG, with Austrian\u00a0industrial investment\u00a0group\u00a0Pierer Group\u00a0continuing to retain the controlling majority over KTM Industries AG.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At present, Pierer Industrie holds about 62 per cent of shares in KTM Industries, which holds nearly 51.7 per cent of shares in\u00a0KTM AG.\u00a0Bajaj holds the rest 48 per cent of KTM shares.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These discussions come after Volkswagen&#8217;s plan to sell the iconic\u00a0Ducati\u00a0brand following the recent diesel-gate scandal. However, following opposition from the labour union, the company cannot go ahead with the sale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Industry experts say that these issues are expected to be sorted soon and Bajaj could later in 2019 be the owner of Ducati, considered as the\u00a0Ferrari\u00a0of the motorcycle industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pierer Industrie plans on making KTM the third largest motorcycle brand worldwide by 2020 after\u00a0Honda\u00a0and\u00a0Yamaha.\u00a0The company sold 2.7 lakh motorcycles last year, up from 2.4 lakh units in 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bajaj Industies said that Pierer Industrie and Bajaj will now evaluate the proposals in detail. The transaction decision is targeted to be made in the second quarter of 2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">KTM&#8217;s concentration on emergent markets like\u00a0India\u00a0could ensure better profitability.
