All eyes on Jio Platforms as the record-breaking IPO gears up for the final step in its listing journey.
Jio Platforms makes its stock market debut on Wednesday as the largest IPO in Indian history. Its grey market premium has stayed in a narrow range for a week, through a difficult market, which points to a listing gain of a little over 20%. That works out to about ₹1343 per share.
However, market grapevine says that the listing could even clock past ₹1400.
The ₹30,213 crore IPO closed on Friday 23rd, 2026 with an overall subscription of 22.19 times.
Qualified institutional buyers subscribed 70.55 times, non-institutional investors 14 times and retail investors 2.72 times. Total demand, including the anchor book, exceeded ₹7.4 lakh crore, from close to 1.39 crore applications, a global record for an IPO.
Shares were credited to allottees’ demat accounts today, and refunds were processed for unsuccessful applicants.
Grey market movement
The grey market premium (GMP) is the unofficial price at which IPO shares trade informally before listing. It is a rough guide to sentiment, not a reliable forecast. Jio’s GMP has followed a pattern over the past three weeks: it rose ahead of the IPO, eased slightly during bidding, and has held in a narrow band since.

Over the full period, the grey market recorded a range of roughly ₹85 to ₹280.
The GMP rose ahead of the opening, peaking around 20 October as excitement about the issue built. It then eased by about ₹30 once bidding began, which is common as speculative demand settles.
The grey market has held steady since. The Sensex fell four sessions in a row last week, smaller stocks fell about 9% in October. Despite that, Jio’s GMP stayed between about ₹240 and ₹260. That suggests strong demand to buy the shares after listing.
At the latest GMP, one lot of 12 shares bought at ₹1,119 would show an indicative gain of about ₹2,900–3,100 on listing per lot.
Listing day works
Trading begins with a special pre-open session for new listings. Orders are collected and matched between 9:45 am and 9:55 am to set the opening price, and regular trading starts after that. The opening price is set by actual buy and sell orders on the day, not by the grey market.
Risks to the listing
Several factors could move the outcome away from the GMP.
The Fed decision. The US Federal Reserve announces its rate decision on Wednesday. If it signals concern about inflation, emerging-market sentiment could turn negative, although the announcement comes after Indian markets close.
Oil. Brent crude is near $116 a barrel, and any escalation in the Gulf overnight could weaken the market on Wednesday morning.
Selling by allottees. With 1.39 crore applications, many retail investors received just one lot and may sell quickly to lock in gains, putting pressure on the price once trading opens.
What the listing means
At the issue price, Jio was valued at about $108 billion, and a 20% premium would put it among India’s most valuable listed companies. A strong debut would encourage the large IPOs planned for the coming months and show that investors still want to own large Indian companies, even as foreign investors sell. A weak debut after record demand would hurt sentiment in an IPO market that is already selective.
For Reliance Industries, which still owns most of Jio Platforms, a strong listing would put a clear market value on its stake.
Note: GMPs are unofficial and unendorsed and based on grey market sentiments.
